I was born in Macau (China) in 1986. Since I was very young, cinema fascinated me. My father had a big collection of movies in VHS tapes and his selection was my first contact with cinema from all parts of the world. My mother always gave me freedom to pursue my creative side, and even when I broke parts of the house filming she would contain herself to not restrain my imagination. I am very grateful for that freedom, which I still carry today.

When I was 15 years old, I went to Cuba on vacation with my father and I took a handy cam with me to film the trip. When I came back home, now in Lisbon (Portugal), my  friends and I decided to use those images to create a series of short films about a serial killer who lived in Havana, Cuba. Experiences like this one were a big part of my daily life while growing up, and after high-school, I knew I was going to dedicate my life to filmmaking.

I studied Cinema and Photography in Madrid, Spain. Scriptwriting was my first option, but as soon as I shot my first 16mm short film I decided to change to the Camera Department. After graduation, I stayed in Madrid for more 8 years, working in advertisements, series, movies, videoclips and documentaries.

As Europe was still facing the economic crisis, by the end of 2014 I decided to move back to Macau with my lovely wife to start a new adventure. In Macau, I went back to work as a camera technician. Slowly I found more work as a Director of Photography. Now, each project I work in has to be special, it has to make a difference and have the same standards as the productions made in the rest of the world. It has to create wonder… it does not make any sense to do it otherwise.
